life’s (is a) cycle

What has been a rough year is coming to an end.

Looking after my niece has brought the family much joy despite the rough times we had gone through this year.

She has become a reminder of why the ones we lost this year have been so painful and hard to bear…

because we love them so dearly, and because they meant so much.

much needed grace was needed this year, and i’m glad as a family we found it through and in You.

I apologize for the hiatus. I started work and i have 2 rolls of film waiting to be processed and scanned…those 2 rolls are really diverse shots and i am hoping it will turn out special.

But meanwhile, dug up some photos from my Cambodia trip in May with some of my friends. It was a good trip! The trip was really impromptu and an eye opener. I mean, Cambodia is really close to Singapore, yet the standard of living and the poverty you see over there is nothing compared to what we have over here.

It won’t hurt to just complain a little less and appreciate a little more.

The open sea, the big wide paddy fields, the clear blue sky…

The vastness.

One of my livelong dream is to be able to travel to every part of the world

But when i encounter scenes like this, where the horizon can never be reached, (like it did for the Truman show)…i know that to travel to the ends of the world is impossible.

The best part of travelling for me thus far has been the humble realization of how big the world is, and how small and insignificant i am. Well but of course, others may argue otherwise of how small the world is when we can all be interconnected so easily in the world with the use of all sorts of social networking media or by the theory of ’6 degrees of separation’…but this is all in relative comparison (at least thats my opinion)

Little bundle of joy

Peeping over the shoulder is my baby niece

Never knew what it was like to be an uncle.

This little bundle of joy has brought so much cheer and laughter to the family. And although i have not really mastered a very good photo of her on my LCA+, i thought i still share whatever i have with u guys. To me while the photos are not the very best in terms of clarity, focus, and even lighting…you would understand how much the picture would still mean to her and us.

Sometimes no matter how bad/poor or blur photos turn out, some times people still want them, still cherish them, still love them. And i think its a lot more than jus them looking good.its about the meaning in which the photos carry, its about a time captured in film and caught in a moment to mark a time which we cannot live in again, and that why we take photos…so that at least for a fleeting moment, we can smile and live in that moment and do what no man can ever do, to let time stand still.
